Jasmine, that is so difficult. Sexual anorexia, where an addict withholds sex from his spouse, is very common with sex addicts. It can feel very personal, like a huge rejection. I hope you know
this isn’t about you and how beautiful you are, even though it may feel like it. Please do some things to take care of your need for touch. Hugs from good friends. Go for a massage. Take a bubble bath. Watch an inspiring or funny movie. Know you are loved. Laurie

Jasmine, my heart aches that your husband chose the addiction over his family.

Thank you so much for your prayers. I am thriving after my divorce. I won’t say it wasn’t hard, because it was. And, God has met every need. I know that He is holding you in the shadow of His wings as you move forward.

I am getting ready to release an updated version of An Affair of the Mind and I will be offering teleclasses to help women rebuild their lives. I will keep you posted.

There is a “contact us” red button on your site, I didn’t know if that’s how someone can get in contact w/Laurie or not. Will you be publishing more articles on your website? Also have you considered a book, maybe ebook to help women by showing them how to go forward when their marriage has ended due to their spouse refusing to repent & turn. I hope we will be hearing more from you. I only recommend 2 books to other women & your’s is the first. I have been able to find out of print copies to purchase & give to individuals, churches & other ministries. Thank you Gray.

I just read your book & it is a gift as I wrap up the divorce. After 23 years he walked out on us for the addiction. You are a brave & insightful woman. In this Internet age where porn addiction runs rampant I feel like your book needs to be revived. I’d love to see you on the talk show circuit or do a public awareness campaign on how porn harms. Thanks for sharing your journey & this wonderful site. I pray you have healed & moved past the crisis of your divorce. While I was deeply saddened to learn that you could not save the marriage in spite of your valiant efforts, l was encouraged that you stood by yourself. He wasn’t God’s best for your life. Thanks for giving women like me a voice through your book.

I forgot to mention… He only confesses after being caught! And now it seems that he lies more. For instance I have smelled the signs of self gratification in the shower which to me unmistakeable but, he DENIES BOLD FACE! We are barely intimate & only after I express my need after long periods of time! We have gone months… And months & on a few occasions over a year!

Hi Tom Hillson,
There are some foods that raise the testosterone levels – eggs, meat, chicken, (animals have their own hormones which are ingested when people ingest their meat plus then farmers feed these animals extra hormones and inject them also with hormone increasing drugs). Certain hormones injected into dairy cows cause them to produce larger quantities of milk. So you might want to decrease your intake of those hormone raising foods. Also, the power of God in times when you simply can’t resist in your own power, is there to call on in that time of need. I know that God removes those urges at that stage, but you must be willing to submit that to God. That is the most severe struggle, but the most wonderful when God removes that powerful urge. Praying you find this helpful.

Hi, Tom, I know very little about A Course in Miracles. It doesn’t interest me. What interests me is what Jesus said, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” He also said, “So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.…” From these statements, I reason backwards and it looks like this: If I am not free, it’s because there’s something I believe that is not Truth. If a teaching is bearing bad fruit in my life, the teaching is bad. Your belief that God is outside you, way UP there, setting you up to fail, and then judging you for failing—is that setting you free? Is it bearing good fruit in your life?

Your response sounds to me like the new-age stuff in A Course In Miracles. It sounds so esoteric. But you’ve gotten beyond many of your struggles, so I value your advice. Unfortunately, I don’t understand it too much, from a practical perspective. But I thank you.

Tom, God is IN you. You are looking outside yourself, like a victim, expecting Someone you’re mad at, Someone you’re judging as an unfair bully, to rescue you. God is NOT out THERE. God is IN you. You can’t live beyond the God you believe in because you are created in the image and likeness of God. If you believe God is an unfair bully that is the image and likeness you create of yourself. Re-examine your thoughts about this and dump what doesn’t serve you.
